In 2009 I commenced practice as a forensic security consultant to provide legal practitioners with access to a tertiary qualified security expert. I provide expert reports on a range of security matters and have over 31 years of security industry experience. I accept briefs of instruction from solicitors from all around Australia. I first commenced my security career back in 1985, working in the security manpower sector as a licensed Security Officer and Crowd Controller. I spent the next 27 years working in this area, up until 2012. During this time, I successfully completed all the requisite vocational training and re-fresher courses required in order to hold a Security Guard/Crowd Controllers Licence.

Throughout the course of my career, I performed all the functions of a Licensed Security Guard/Crowd Controller, including crowd control at special and sporting events, mobile patrols, static/armed guard duties, retail security and cash-in-transit work. I have also employed a number of Licensed Security Guard/Crowd Controllers. During this time, I also held a number of other vocational licenses such as, concealable firearm licences, private investigator’s licence, security firm’s licence, security guard’s weapons licence, commercial agent’s licence and a security advisor’s licence.

In 2009 I completed a Bachelor of Science (Security) degree at Edith Cowan University where I studied such subjects as: Physical Security; Industrial Security Procedures; Management of the Security Function; Security Risk Management; Electronic Alarms; CCTV Systems; Counterterrorism; and, Access Control Systems.

In 2011 I completed a Master of Criminology degree at Bond University on the Gold Coast where I read such topics as: Advanced Crime Prevention; Forensic Sciences; Advanced Forensic Victimology; Advanced Forensic Criminology; and, Advanced Alcohol Drugs and Crime.

I returned to Edith Cowan University and completed a Master of Occupational Health and Safety with a Specialisation in Occupational Safety, in 2013. My coursework included: Occupational Health and Safety Law & Guidance Material; Risk Management; Safe Design and Ergonomics; Occupational Safety Management; Emergency Management; and, Systems Safety.

During the course of my security career I have attended a number of security seminars and workshops such as: Integrated Security Management Workshop; Fundamentals of Conducting a Security Survey; and, School Security & Crime Prevention for Principals & Administrators. I am also a Forensic Security Consultant to the NSW police.

Since 2008 I have been an active member of ASIS International (American Society of Industrial Security). I am Board Certified in Security Management by ASIS International, having earned the coveted Certificated Protection (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) and Physical Security Professional (PSP) designations.

As a member of ASIS International, I have been involved in the development of the following two International Security Standards: Chief Security Officer – An Organizational Model ANIS/ASIS CSO.1-2013 and Auditing Management Systems – Risk, Resilience, Security and Continuity – Guidance for Applications ASIS SPC.2-2014.

I have also authored a number of security related articles published in the Australian Security Magazine, Education Technology Solutions and Security Solutions Magazine.
