John Pettit is Australia's leading Forensic Security Consultant, specialising in forensic security reports for the purposes of litigation. John established this consultancy practice in 2009, to predominately consult to the legal profession. John's goal was to provide the legal fraternity with access to sound security advice from a tertiary qualified security professional. Specialising in the provision of court reports and expert testimony, John's field of expertise is in: 'third party criminal acts' on licensed premises; workplace injuries arising out of inadequate security; and, the review of other security experts reports. While located in Brisbane, John accepts briefs from Solicitors from all around Australia.

John Pettit is principal consultant and has been associated with the security industry since 1985. John holds a Bachelor of Science (Security) from Edith Cowan University in Perth. He also holds a Master of Criminology from Bond University on the Gold Coast. Currently, John is completing a Master of Occupational Health and Safety at Edith Cowan.  He also holds a number of vocational qualifications recognised under the AQTF standards. Since first commencing in practice, John Pettit has fast become a much sought after expert and a leader in the field of forensic security. John is now being regularly briefed as a security expert by a growing number of legal firms. The New South Wales Police has also sought out John's services as a security expert, and he now appears on the NSW Police register of forensic experts. John prides himself on providing forensic security reports based on defendable opinions and empirical research. Examples of some of John's more notable forensic casework thus far performed, includes cases involving a:
  • Club manager who was kidnapped by armed robbers
  • Taxi driver assaulted and injured by his fare
  • Club manager who developed PTSD over a course of three armed robberies
  • Security guard who was stabbed by a member of public
  • Patron of a licensed premises injured in a shootout between two rival outlaw motorcycle gangs
  • Nightclub patron who was injured as a result of excess force by a crowd controller
  • Cash-in-Transit guard who developed PTSD as a result of an armed robbery
  • Nightclub employee who was injured during a brawl on the premises
  • Crowd controller injured in the course of denying entry to a nightclub to four bikers
  • Patron of nightclub who was assaulted and injured by another patron
In 2009, John was instrumental in establishing the Queensland Chapter of ASIS International, along with a number of other dedicated security professionals. John is an active member of AISIS International and also belongs to ANZSOC. He is a former member of the Australian Army Reserve.
